Lifelong KCMO resident Laura Norris opened Ragazza in 2013 as a small 8-table restaurant in Westport. Initially imagined as an Italian deli counter, Laura expanded her concept to full-service at the behest of friends and family who encouraged her to share her recipes with the broader community.
In 2019, Ragazza moved a few blocks away to another historic building at the corner of 43rd and Main Street in Midtown Kansas City’s Southmoreland neighborhood. The larger space has allowed Ragazza to grow and thrive, providing the same inclusive hospitality that Laura has strived for since Ragazza’s humble beginnings.

Ragazza began generations ago, with owner Laura's Italian roots and Budetti family recipes passed down from her grandmother Lauricella (pictured top center) and her mother Marie (pictured bottom left with uncles Peter and Bart).

Ragazza is Italian for "girl" — a nod to our proud stance as a woman-owned small business. Our first location was small and cozy, with only 8 tables and half our current bar capacity.

Having far outgrown our original space, Laura chooses the historic Karnopp building at the corner of 43rd and Main Street for our new home.

Our new home opens to much fanfare in Spring of 2019 with nearly triple the seating capacity of our first location.

Shortly after opening our new location, COVID hits. Ragazza survives the storm serving carryout meals and with the incredible support of our amazing patrons.

Exciting changes bring big challenges. The KC Streetcar Mainstreet Extension brings major construction barriers to our corner, but once again, we thrive with the support of our beloved patrons.

The Ragazza family grows in December 2022 with the opening of our sister restaurant, Enzo, in the Historic City Market. In the former Bo Ling's space, Enzo serves up Mediterranean fare with an incredible wine selection and the best patio in KC.
